Al-Falah Islamic Centre Isiolo was established in 1972 to cater for Islamic education needs for the Muslim Community residing in the then Isiolo district. The center consists of Al-Falah Primary school, Al-Falah Madrassa, Al-Falah Children’s Home and Al-Falah Mosque Isiolo. Initially Al-Falah Centre provided purely Madrassa education and Tahfeez -ul-Quran Kareem. The three institutions operate in a symbiotic manner to provide homely care, basic secular education and basic Islamic knowledge to about 200 boys and girls. Al Falah Primary School also offers access to other children from the community so as to create an integrative environment for the OVC’s.
Initiated in 2008, Al-Falah Primary School has two categories of students, 92 (120) orphans under sponsorship of ICNA Relief Canada and 213 ordinary self-sponsored students making a total number as of end of 3rd term 2022 at 305 Students. In 2022 KCPE, the school produced the best girl in Isiolo county and attained a mean average of 299.5 out 500 marks. In 2023 being the final KCPE, the performance has been amazing with the school attaining a mean average of 345 out of 500 marks. The students have been equally active in extra-curricular activities with the scout team emerged top in the 2022 regional competition and 2nd best in the regional music festivals in 2023.
The good performance has been attributed to the improvement in facilities, teachers and staff welfare and incentives from the Executive Committee to reward improved performance. The school is also among the few in Isiolo County that were approved to in 2023 to start Junior Secondary School JSS having met the requirements and guidelines of the Ministry of Education as per the new CBC curriculum.
In recognition of the original intentions of establishing Al Falah Center and in response to the need assessment done, in further recognition that many Imams and Madrassa teachers in Kenya are products and beneficiaries of studying at Al-Falah Madrassa Isiolo. the Madrassa will be reopened in January 2024 to offer Ibtidai level of Islamic studies in addition to Tahfidh of the Holy Qur’an which had 15 students have graduating this year. We intend to re-establish the link for the madrassa to continue serving as a feeder institution to Kisauni Islamic Institute.
Center remains active in Da’wah and has hosted several symposia for ladies and a Quran memorization and recitation competition which involved students from our Tahfidh Madrassa as participants.
